Rather than sleeping too much, many people sleep too little. The average adult needs about 8 hours of sleep each night. Too little sleep causes the body to wear out faster and is responsible for accidents on the job and while driving a vehicle. Studies performed at Stanford University have shown that driving while sleepy is as dangerous as driving drunk.

The poor man had little to give as collateral or a pledge of repayment, so he would take off his outer cloak and give that to the lender. But his cloak was to be returned before the sun went down since it was also his blanket and cover as he slept at night. God is interested in our welfare, and wants us to be comfortable.

21. What did God do that set the seventh day apart from the other six days? Genesis 2:3

Something that has been sanctified has been set apart for holy use. The seventh day was set apart from the other six days as a day of rest holy to God.

“Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it” Exodus 20:8-11.

22. How did Jesus regard the Sabbath? Matthew 12:8

23. Is the Sabbath still important to us today? Hebrews 4:3, 4

“There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God” Hebrews 4:9.

“And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath” Mark 2:27.

24. How are we to rest on the Sabbath day? Isaiah 58:13, 14

During the French Revolution of the late eighteenth century, the atheist government decided to change the week from seven to ten days. Everyone would have every tenth day off rather than every seventh day. The experiment was a failure for neither human nor animal could tolerate a ten day week. The body needs rest from labor every seventh day. God has given us a day that we may rest from our labor and spend time meditating on God and worshiping Him.
