When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home” John 19:25-27.

“Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell” Proverbs 23:13, 14.
Beat or beatest: to strike lightly or severely.
Rod: to branch off, a scion, a stick as used for writing or a staff.
Correction: chastisement; also reproof, warning, or instruction; also restraint.
The Bible tells parents it is alright to use corporal punishment but it is not advocating that children should be beaten and abused. Corporal punishment is not always the best way to correct problems in a child. The meaning given for “correction” indicates that children need to be instructed; they must be taught right from wrong by words and examples. They need to be warned against doing wrong and what the consequences will be for disobedience. They need to be reproved when they are caught being disobedient. Always, no matter what a child has done wrong, they should be corrected in love, not in anger or the heat of the moment.
16. What example of childhood obedience did Jesus give us? Luke 2:51

And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother; Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye” Mark 7:10-13.
“Cursed be he that setteth light by his father or his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen” Deuteronomy 27:16.
If grown children did not want to take care of their aging parents, they would give all that they owned to the temple. They kept their property, but were no longer under any legal obligations to see to their parents needs. Jesus pointed out that those who did such were guilty of breaking the fifth commandment.
